Why Movie Reviews?
In my last post, I tackled the big "Why?"—why today's movie reviews focus more on cinematography, editing, and other technical jargon rather than the sheer joy of watching a film. But that brings up an even bigger "Why?"...
Why movies?
Why not product reviews? Tech gadgets? Food?
Well, here’s why.
You’ve heard the saying, An apple a day keeps the doctor away, right? Well, I have my own version:
A movie a day keeps the worries away.
Why just one, though? Why not two? Or three? That’s been my daily diet for as long as I can remember—unless I’m traveling (and even then, I try to sneak one in). My definition of "new" isn’t what just hit the theaters, but what’s new to me.
But why this obsession? What keeps me coming back for more?
Simple: The experience.
A great movie isn’t just something you watch—it’s something you live. It bends time, defies physics, and breaks through language barriers. One minute you’re on your couch; the next, you’re running through Middle-earth, solving mysteries in Victorian London, or piloting a spaceship across the galaxy, or Riding the horse with your Cowboy hat on ..... shooting the hell out of bandits of the wild west.
Once those opening credits roll and the music kicks in, it’s like the ringing phone in The Matrix. You pick up, and BOOM—you’re inside. The first scene drops, and you’re strapped into a cinematic rollercoaster.
And that, my friends, is why I’m here—writing about the magic of movies.
Because when a film is done right, you’re not just watching it.
You’re living it.
